Description

D.L. George and Sons Construction is seeking a Lead Excavator Operator with a minimum of 2 years trench excavation experience, preferred. As the lead excavator operator, you will operate machinery to perform activities such as excavating, backfilling, trenching, ditching, clearing and all other functions as required.

Lead Excavator Operator Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Properly inspect and use construction related equipment, whether it would be powered, mechanical or manual.
  • Ability to complete required documentation when needed.
  • Ensure work is excavated to the proper requirements, depth/grade, etc.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable OSHA standards, specifically to trenching and excavation requirements.
  • Recognize and correct potential hazards as soon as they are present by maintaining proper awareness of one's surroundings.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Lead Excavator Operator Qualifications and Skills:

  • The Lead Excavator Operator must have good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and balance.
  • They must be able to read and understand warning signs and labels on a construction site, as well as follow verbal or written instructions.
  • They must have effective communication skills and understand, write and speak English.
  • They must possess the knowledge and ability to operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of trench excavation including sloping, benching, the ability to safely handle and move trench boxes, stone boats and safely handle and set pipe and structures.
