D.L. George & Sons is seeking a Safety Director to head the Safety Department of our 3 companies. We offer competitive pay, benefits, growth, and advancement opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- HS Diploma with a minimum of 4 - 6 years of progressive experience in a safety leadership role
- Experience with OSHA, MSHA, FMCSA-DOT, EM385 Regulations preferred
- Experience with developing and conducting job safety analysis required
- Must be capable of identifying known/potential exposures and recommending corrective action
- Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing required
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the overseeing, enforcing, and maintenance of the Safety Program
- Perform risk assessments, maintain hazard tracking, and report hazardous trends with follow-up corrective action
- Accident investigations, corrective actions, and accident reporting
- Manage Workers Compensation and Property Damage claims
- Provide Safety Training to all employees
- Establish and conduct Safety Orientation for every new employee; administer and record employee participation upon completing the orientation program
- Attend Staff Meetings to brief the staff on safety issues on company projects and to keep informed of the progress of the job(s)
- Maintain an effective line of communication between management and employees
- Conduct regular inspections noting safety violations and corrective actions
- Record, notify, and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices for immediate corrective action
- Establish and maintain all required job safety records
