D.L. George & Sons Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Plasma Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with various machining processes and precision measuring instruments. The Plasma Operator sets up and operates Plasma / Laser Burn Table machine to cut or perform other machining operations on steel in the manufacturing of parts. Determines operation sequence, selects and adjusts machine to perform proper cutting/burning of plate.

Plasma Operator Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reads prints and checks for errors.
• Layout and burn/cut steel.
• Identify and number material for fabrication, as well as material to be sent out for further machining.
• May operate other computer numeric controlled machinery as needed to meet production.
• Welding may be required on occasion.
• Loading and unloading materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Plasma Operator Skills and Qualifications:

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and BOM's.
• Must demonstrate a high level of accuracy and work safely at all times.
• Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes for material handling.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control practices.
• Previous experience working with steel, as well as, layout, drilling and light welding.
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a CNC machine operator with burn table experience or other related CNC machine operator in a heavy industry, or similar demonstrated numerically controlled machine operation abilities or as deemed sufficient by management- required.

Plasma Operator Physical Requirements:

• Meet D.L. George & Sons medical, drug and alcohol qualifications.
• Must be able to walk and stand throughout an 8 hour shift.
• Must be able to lift material weighing up to 50 pounds from a floor or table position to chest high using proper lifting techniques.
• Must be able to repetitively use arms, hands and fingers in the manipulation of parts, while demonstrating good hand/eye coordination.
• Demonstrate good manual dexterity.
